On September 8, 2016 the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a 50 year license to Juneau Hydropower to construct and operate their Sweetheart Lake hydroelectric facility. This represents the culmination of over 7 years of research, planning, design in the application and approval process. This effort would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts between Juneau Hydropower and its partners as well as the many state local and federal agencies as well as the overwhelming outpouring of public support.
Construction is slated to begin in 2020. Regular updates on construction progress will be posted on the juneauhydropower.com site.
